Who is Pharmacist?
A pharmacist, commonly known as a (Chemist) and anciently called an (Apothecary), is a health professional who specializes in the preparation, properties, effects, interactions, and use of medicines. A pharmacist is a professional who links chemistry to medical science and is therefore often referred to as a chemist. The pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to patients and basic primary health care services. Using the knowledge of the mechanism of action of the drugs, the pharmacist can decide how to administer the drug to maximize benefit and minimize side effects as well as avoid interactions with other drugs.
Duties and responsibilities of Pharmacist
The pharmacist plays an important role in the health care system. The pharmacist advises patients and other health providers on how to choose and use medicines, monitors the health and progress of patients to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the medicines used.

Our Services
As SKP, we did many of activities across Iraqi Kurdistan Region during these years from the establishing the syndicate, including:
Scientific and legal destruction of expired medicines by the medicine destruction committee of the Kurdistan Pharmacists Union/Sulaimani Branch, without causing any environmental or scientific damage.
After receiving complaints about several pharmacies, the inspection committees of our union in collaboration with the Governor’s Office of the central district of Erbil, investigated and inspected several pharmacies in the two sides of youth in Erbil Their case was settled for the following violations:
Having unauthorized and unscientific solutions in the pharmacy.
Integrating the pharmacy profession with other medical and health professions.
Irregular drug storage.
Therefore, we warn all pharmacies in Erbil to comply with the laws and guidelines of the Pharmacists Union, otherwise legal action will be taken against them.

SKP Aim
Our aim at SKPI is to promote high standards in pharmaceutical product production, quality assurance and preparation of compound medicinal prescriptions, pharmaceutical and other appropriate products.
To cultivate and maintain co-operative relations with governmental departments, regulatory agencies, medical, pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical and related health organisations, the academic community and compendial bodies and other branches of the pharmaceutical and other pertinent industries.
Our main Goal is to originate and participate in co-operative enterprises and undertakings with them. To encourage the education and training of personnel in the fields of Pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical technology and pharmaceutical services in hospital.
